Emails might sometimes go into spam or trash by mistake.

Searching for emails in Spam was impossible, untill now. Google has released a new update for its search engine in Gmail that will now search in both the Trash and Spam folders (only Trash was indexed previously). If a match is found, a footer at the bottom of search results will indicate the match and direct the user to view the messages.

The footer is shown below:

So make sure to notice it next time you run a search!

Gmail Search Query

In addition, if a search query is too general to return useful search results and the criteria weren’t well specified, a different footer will now be shown guiding the user to try refining their query using Gmail advanced search.

The footer is shown below, so the next time you have difficulties finding the emails, Gmail will alert you to improve your search options.

This update will be rolling soon, its scheduled to fully take effect in two weeks.
